I have no idea why Gyrode frames the mech between his fingers like he's framing a movie shoot. It helps him plan?

RoboPig was not an intentional reference to the (unnecessary) RoboCop reboot that was coming out around the time this was drawn, it's a genuine coincidence!

Gyrode did indeed basically construct a new mech from scratch in four hours, and as Ralph mentions it wasn't quite as impressive as originally thought.
