You may already be aware of a small obsession I have with the Batman Arkham games and the toys based on those character designs – I’ve shown off my little collection before in a self-indulgent display of “look how much disposable income I have (LOL)”. You can consider this to be an (equally indulgent) extension of that post with the latest addition to the collection.
Last month I received an unexpected delivery – unexpected because the estimated release date was November and the delivery was a lot bigger than I expected it to be!
In case you need proof of the latter, here’s what I received:
Solomon Grundy is a zombie gifted with incredible strength. His role in Batman: Arkham City is (highlight to read – spoilers) as a boss fight. He’s chained up in the basement of the Penguin’s club, the Iceberg Lounge, and Batman ends up squaring off against the behemoth while trying to get to the mob boss himself.
Grundy is really nicely sculpted and is a really cool figure to hold – he’s really bloody heavy! I think they’ve really managed to capture the size and width of the character from the game. Just take a gander at this video of the boss fight this design is based on (warning, there be spoilers!). The only thing missing is some oversized monster maggots.
Incidentally, his chest piece can come off and his heart is a separate item – that’s some cool attention to detail! Here’s an image somebody else took of it as I’m a moron and forgot to.
Here are some more images – just click the thumbnails to see the full size images.
